　秀吉の朝鮮出兵の際に、平戸松浦２６代鎮信（しげのぶ）公に従って朝鮮に渡った正守（しょうしゅ）大和尚は、帰国後も敵味方の区別なく戦死者の冥福を祈りました。その志に感銘を受けた鎮信公の遺命により、元和（げんな）３年（１６１７）に護舜寺が建立されました。
